Jonathan Lovitz is dedicated to helping governments, corporations, and nonprofits build strong economies and communities. In February 2023, President Biden appointed Jonathan the US Department of Commerce to join the senior leadership team of the US Economic Development Administration (EDA). He recently served as Senior Vice President & Special Advisor to the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce, continuing a career spanning the worlds of business, public policy, the arts, and community advocacy.
In his decade of service to the Chamber of Commerce, he led the charge to write and pass more than twenty-five bipartisan state and local laws, as well as author multiple federal MOUs, opening up billions of dollars in contracts and economic development to small business owners, including minorities, veterans, those with disabilities, and LGBTQ-owned entrepreneurs. He continues to lead advocacy initiatives across America on voting rights, nondiscrimination, healthcare access, gun safety, and more.
Out Magazine named Lovitz to the 2023 OUT 100 List of "artists, disruptors, educators, groundbreakers, innovators, and storytellers who all helped make the world a better place for LGBTQ+ people."
Lovitz is a regular guest on MSNBC, CNBC, NPR, and Bloomberg, among others, and has served as a keynote speaker for organizations including the US Dept. of Defense, US Dept. of Treasury, NASA, the United Nations, The Trevor Project, and many more. He is also the Founder & CEO of Lovitz Strategies, a certified minority-owned business focused on public policy, diversity, equity, & inclusion (DEI) efforts, and communications strategies for corporations and NGOs across the country.
