U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $97,850 to Create Jobs, Strengthen Economy in Ruston, Louisiana

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Commerce Department's Economic Development Administration (EDA) today announced a $97,850 grant to Louisiana Tech University of Ruston, La., to support the operation of the University Center economic development technical assistance program.

The University Center program provides local government and nonprofit organizations with resources to better analyze the economic needs of local communities.

"The Economic Development Administration strongly supports the innovative research and development that takes place at our nation's colleges and universities," said Sandra R. Walters, EDA Chief Financial Officer/Chief Administrative Officer. "The Department of Commerce is pleased to partner with Louisiana Tech University to improve the business climate and standard of living in their communities."

EDA is an agency within the U.S. Commerce Department and supports the economic development needs of distressed communities throughout the United States. Its mission is to lead the federal economic development agenda by promoting innovation and competitiveness and preparing American regions for growth and success in the worldwide economy.
