EDA Grant Expected to Create 300 Jobs and Generate $45 Million in Private Investment

WASHINGTON - U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke today announced a $1 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant to the Braxton County Commission and the Flatwoods-Canoe Public Service District of Sutton, W. Va., to increase the capacity of the Flatwoods-Canoe Run water treatment and distribution system. The project is expected to create 300 jobs and generate $45 million in private investment, according to grantee estimates.

"The Obama Administration is committed to creating jobs, encouraging innovation and improving our nation's economic competitiveness," Locke said. "This grant will help Braxton County increase water capacity to support business expansion plans and serve future business needs."
