EDA Grant Expected to Create 200 Jobs and Generate

WASHINGTON - U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke today announced a $2 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant to the Grayson County College Foundation, Inc., of Denison, Texas to help build the Rayburn Center, a regional business and industrial one-stop facility and workforce training and education center in Bonham, Texas. The project is expected to create 200 jobs and generate $2.5 million in private investment, according to grantee estimates.

"The Obama Administration is committed to creating jobs, encouraging innovation and improving our nation's economic competitiveness," Locke said. "The Grayson Center will work to foster and promote business and entrepreneurial ventures and will provide workers with the critical skills needed to compete for higher-skill, higher-wage job opportunities."

The Department of Commerce is a voice for Main Street businesses that works to grow local economies by fostering innovation and opening markets to U.S. products and services. Locke is a member of President Barack Obama's economic team.
