EDA Grant Expected to Create 492 Jobs and Generate $1.3 Million in Private Investment

WASHINGTON - U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke today announced a $1.5 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant to Hamilton County, Tenn., to support the renovation of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Business Development Center and to move the business incubator toward Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. The project is expected to create 492 jobs and generate $1.3 million in private investment, according to grantee estimates.

"The Obama Administration is committed to creating jobs, encouraging innovation and improving our nation's economic competitiveness," Locke said. "This grant will create jobs and boost private investment in Hamilton County by significantly improving the capacity of Chattanooga-Hamilton County Business Development Center, a facility that provides space and technical assistance to local businesses."
