EDA Grant Expected to Create 330 Jobs and Generate $18 Million in Private Investment

WASHINGTON - U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke today announced a $4 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant to the city of Owen, Wis., to help build the Central Wisconsin Agricultural Innovation Center. The project is expected to create 330 jobs and generate $18 million in private investment, according to grantee estimates.

"The Obama Administration is committed to creating jobs, encouraging innovation and improving our nation's economic competitiveness," Locke said. "This grant will help build an energy-efficient innovation center that will enhance central Wisconsin's competitiveness in agribusiness and the bio-economy, two emerging 21st century industries with enormous capacity to create higher-skill, higher-wage jobs."
