EDA Grant Expected to Create 405 Jobs and Generate $50 Million in Private Investment

WASHINGTON - U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke today announced a $4 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant to South Seattle (Wash.) Community College to help design and build a Leadership in Environment and Energy Design (LEED) silver-certified building addition at the Puget Sound Industrial Excellence Center for use as a jobs training facility. The project is expected to create 405 jobs and generate $50 million in private investment, according to grantee estimates.

"The Obama Administration is committed to creating jobs, encouraging innovation and improving our nation's economic competitiveness," Locke said. "This grant will help establish a jobs training facility that will provide workers with the skills needed to compete for jobs in the green manufacturing and international trade sectors."
