EDA Grant Expected to Create 95 Jobs and Generate $75 Million in Private Investment
WASHINGTON - U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke today announced a $3.4 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant to Independence County, Ark., to help build a rail switching station and rail car storage area to accommodate current and future business needs. The project is expected to create 95 jobs and generate $75 million in private investment, according to grantee estimates.
"The Obama Administration is committed to creating jobs, encouraging innovation and improving our nation's economic competitiveness," Locke said. "This grant will create new jobs and boost private investment in the region by making the vital rail infrastructure improvements needed to accommodate business expansion plans and serve future industrial development needs."
