In a fast-moving, hyper-competitive startup environment, access to highly-specialized equipment and services that are generally cost-prohibitive can be pivotal to the success of science-based companies. First Flight Venture Center (First Flight), an incubator of high-science, high-impact startups located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, is establishing a shared, rapid prototyping facility called Hangar6, open to all North Carolina science-based businesses. First Flight is joined by three key project partners: Alexandria Real Estate Equities (ARE), the NC Center of Innovation Network (COIN) and Eva Garland Consulting (EGC).

Hangar6 will offer participating companies access to a range of advanced equipment as well as expert services and will be supported by subscription fees to ensure its sustainability and growth. Hangar6’s capabilities will evolve over time as they are adapted to clients’ needs.
