2017 EDA FEVS Analysis

EDA is pleased to provide you with the following analysis of our 2017 FEVS results. The results may be accessed using the link at the end of this document.

Participation: One hundred and fifty (150) Economic Development Administration (EDA) employees were notified by email of the survey; of those, one hundred eighteen (118) employees responded for a 78.7% response rate. This compares very favorably with the government-wide response rate of 45.5% and Department of Commerce response rate of 53.8%. This response rate continues EDA’s trend of outstanding participation for the past four years.

Highlights: Overall, EDA improved again in 2017, continuing a fairly consistent upward trend since 2013. These results validate that actions we have been taking are positively impacting our workforce. Some of the highlights include:

  • Four-two (42) of the 71 core items/questions had positive scores of 65% or higher, categorizing them as strengths. This is a substantial increase from 28 core items in 2016 that were above 65%.
  • Only five (5) items were identified as challenges, having negative scores of at least 35%. This is down from nine (9) items in 2016.
  • All FEVS Indices: Employee Engagement, Global Satisfaction, The New IQ (Diversity and Inclusion), and the Human Capital Assessment and Accountability (HCAAF) improved again, most for the fourth year in a row.

Continuous improvement: EDA is committed to using the FEVS results and other performance indicators to make EDA a best place to work for each employee so that we may better serve our communities. Previous and ongoing efforts to improve EDA’s work environment and employee engagement are clearly paying off and will continue. In addition, we will be looking for other collaborative and innovative ways to improve.
