Highlight: Wisconsin’s St. Croix Business Innovation Center Opens to Great Fanfare
On Thursday, April 12, the St. Croix Business Innovation Center in River Falls, Wisconsin, opened its doors for business following a grand opening ceremony attended by business, academic, and government leaders from throughout the region.
EDA Deputy Assistant Secretary for Regional Affairs Dennis Alvord spoke at the event and was honored to cut the ribbon to open the impressive new facility in which EDA invested $1.4 million in Public Works Program funds to help build.
The project will be critical to fostering economic development in the rural St. Croix Valley region. By supporting business growth in the region, the center will help bridge the skills gap, create new jobs, and spur private investment that will improve the overall quality of life of local residents.
The St. Croix Valley Innovation Center would not have become a reality if it weren’t for the efforts of leaders from project partners including:
- The City of River Falls,
- The River Falls Economic Development Corporation,
- The University of Wisconsin-River Falls,
- Chippewa Valley Technical College, and the
- West Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission.
EDA looks forward to seeing how the many innovative companies that will be fostered here - and the workers that will receive training here - will help to support this regional, state and national economy.
