U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $1.2 Million to Make Water Infrastructure Improvements Needed to Support Business Expansion and Growth in Texas

WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross today announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $1.2 million grant to the City of San Angelo Development Corporation of San Angelo, Texas, to make critical water and roadway infrastructure upgrades needed to support commercial development. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 30 jobs and spur $19 million in private investment.

“As the President has often remarked, American communities urgently need to upgrade their local infrastructure,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. “This crucial infrastructure project will allow existing manufacturing and other businesses the opportunity to expand while helping attract new businesses to San Angelo.”

The project will extend water and road infrastructure at the City of San Angelo Business and Industrial Park to double the acreage available for commercial development, primarily in the manufacturing sector. This project was made possible by the regional planning efforts led by the Concho Valley Economic Development District. EDA funds the Concho Valley Economic Development District to bring together the public and private sectors to create an economic development roadmap to strengthen the regional economy, support private capital investment and create jobs.
