U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $1.3 Million to Help Equip the Ambulatory Care Center in Imperial County, California

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $1.3 million grant to Imperial County, California, to acquire equipment needed to expand the El Centro Ambulatory Care Center and create new job opportunities in the county.

“The Trump Administration is committed to taking action that creates new prospects for all Americans,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. “The El Centro Ambulatory Care Center is a vital piece of the economy in Imperial Valley -- this new equipment will help them expand operations and provide more opportunities to local residents.”

“I am glad the Department of Commerce made the right decision to award this grant to a local health center in Imperial County,” said Congressman Juan Vargas. “Making improvements to this health center in El Centro will help give people access to better health care in the region. I support this grant and will continue working to promote economic development.”

This EDA grant will allow Imperial County to purchase equipment needed to improve and expand the healthcare facility, which is a major generator of jobs in Imperial County and helps to anchor the region’s economic ecosystem.
