Project Description:
The Fresno-Merced Future of Food Innovation (F3) coalition, led by the Central Valley Community Foundation, aims to leverage the Fresno-Merced region's industry expertise to expand the region’s food and agriculture technology engineering cluster. Agriculture is already a significant source of employment for the predominately Hispanic workforce in the region. If provided an implementation grant, the project proposes to develop advanced, sustainable food production and food manufacturing. The coalition proposes to address racial economic disparity, improve educational outcomes, and reinvest in underdeveloped neighborhoods by focusing on bringing small food entrepreneurs to the global food industry and expanding engineering capabilities in digitalization, equipment, and systems integration.
