U.S. Department of Commerce Announces Strong Response to the Good Jobs Challenge, Demonstrating Applicants’ Commitment to Creating New Opportunities for America’s Workforce

​​​​​​​WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) announced that it has received 509 applications for its American Rescue Plan Good Jobs Challenge program. Applications were received from partnerships in all States, territories and the District of Columbia and are comprised of State, local and Tribal governments, Institutions of Higher Education, non-profit organizations, and organized labor. Applicants represent significant interest from a diverse range of stakeholders in communities across America. Together, these applicants demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting underserved communities and groups with barriers to employment. The incredible interest in the program shows that communities and businesses across the country are eager to engage in new meaningful workforce development program opportunities.

U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $1.1 Million in American Rescue Plan Funds to Provide Technical Assistance to Small Businesses in South San Francisco, California

Status Update on EDA’s American Rescue Plan Programs

Due to the high volume of applications and interest EDA has received for its six American Rescue Plan programs, EDA would like to provide a status update on its $3 billion American Rescue Plan Programs. EDA strongly recommends any entities actively working on an application to contact their local Economic Development Representative (EDR) to discuss their region s availability of funds.

U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $800,000 in American Rescue Plan Funds to Plan Redevelopment of Former Coal Power Plant Site in Springfield, Missouri

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding an $800,000 grant to the city of Springfield, Missouri, to conduct planning efforts for the redevelopment of the Lake Springfield area. This grant is funded by the American Rescue Plan and EDA’s $300 million Coal Communities Commitment.
