Washington Maritime Blue

This EDA investment supports the Scaling Maritime Blue Economy Innovation (Maritime Blue) project, which aims to  scale Washington Maritime Blue’s efforts to accelerate the Pacific Northwest’s path towards an equitable, sustainable, and profitable maritime and ocean sector (Blue Economy) through intentional programming and collaboration.

Maritime Blue’s world-class innovation ecosystem in the Blue Economy fosters collaborative development projects, and facilitates equitable career pathways. With early support from EDA’s i6 Challenge grant (2017) and additional support from the Build to Scale Industry Challenge (2020) grant, Maritime Blue is building on five years of success.

As the region's marquee cluster organization for sector-focused economic development and innovation, Maritime Blue looks to bring together more than 100 active members who have practiced collaboration through Maritime Blue-led projects. By leveraging past success, Maritime Blue is positioned to grow capacity for programming to support new market opportunities, technology development, collaboration, and entrepreneurship to become a national leader for accelerating innovation for a sustainable and equitable Blue Economy.
