Alaska Municipal League
The Alaska Municipal Disaster Response and Mitigation Partnership
Project Description:
The Alaska Municipal Disaster Response and Mitigation Partnership, led by the Alaska Municipal League, will address Alaska’s growing vulnerability to natural and anthropogenic disasters through workforce development in advanced data management and disaster planning technologies. The partnership will focus on training Alaska Natives and rural residents, including economically disadvantaged persons, in critical skills for natural disaster response and mitigation, with an emphasis on Geographic Information Systems (GIS), predictive analytics, and real-time data management. By equipping municipal governments and community partners with these in-demand skills, the program will help municipalities better prepare for and mitigate the impacts of extreme weather events, floods, and wildfires.
