Idaho Advanced Energy Consortium
Advanced Nuclear Workforce Ecosystem
Project description:
The Advanced Nuclear Workforce Ecosystem (ANWE), led by the Idaho Advanced Energy Consortium, will establish a robust nuclear industry workforce development program to create strong pathways to quality energy jobs in Idaho and Wyoming. Together with institutions of higher education, state agencies, industry, and union partners, the project will design and implement workforce development plans, including curriculum design for apprenticeship skills training and outreach, training, and job placement for in-demand positions including nuclear technicians, operators, and industrial maintenance workers. The project aims to serve incumbent workers, as well as underserved communities, such as rural and remote, women in science, technology, engineering, and match (STEM) fields, Hispanic populations, Native, and other economically disadvantaged groups. Wraparound services will be provided by Climb Wyoming and CEI’s Center for New Directions, including coaching, mental health support, soft skills training, food security, childcare, and transportation.
The project will support the Intermountain-West Nuclear Energy Corridor Tech Hub, which EDA designated a Tech Hub in 2023. The Tech Hub aims to position Idaho and Wyoming as a global leader in small modular reactors (SMR) and advanced nuclear energy to contribute to a cleaner energy future.
