The North Olympic Peninsula Recompete Plan, led by Clallam County, requests approximately $50 million to revitalize the natural resources industries in Washington State’s North Olympic Peninsula. The remote region has lacked job opportunities since the logging industry’s decline. To drive renewed economic competitiveness and good job opportunities in the natural resources sector, funding will support a manufacturing facility on the Makah Tribal lands; a natural resources innovation center; critical marine transportation and industrial site infrastructure; and a workforce strategy with social support services. Through the coalition’s Recompete Task Force, tribal and county governments, local colleges, and economic development partners are poised to create and connect residents to good jobs.
