The Prosper Memphis 2030 Recompete Plan, led by the Memphis Chamber Foundation, requests approximately $20 million to diversify the local economy and build pathways into growth industries. The city has faced persistent poverty for decades with residents facing a variety of barriers to quality jobs. With growth in electric vehicle manufacturing in the area, the city has a historic opportunity to enable economic mobility in its underserved communities. In response, key stakeholders have invested over $8 million into “More Memphis,” an initiative to identify and implement equitable growth strategies. Through Recompete, the Finalist will build upon this work to create career pathways into Industry 4.0 sectors, expand critical supports including childcare, and enable business growth and entrepreneurship in underserved communities.
