U.S. Commerce Department Announces $13.5 Million to Support U.S. Manufacturers

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced $13.5 million in U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) grants to support 11 Trade Adjustment Assistance Centers (TAACs) that help manufacturers affected by imports adjust to increasing global competition and to create jobs. The TAACs, which each service multiple states, are located in California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington.

U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $2 Million to Support Aviation Research Center at Wichita State University

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $2 million grant to Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas, to purchase key tools and supplies to support the new Flight Test Research Center and a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul facility for the National Institute for Aviation Research. This EDA project, to be matched with $222,219 in local funds, is expected to create 75 jobs and retain 7 jobs.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $3.7 million grant to the city of Winona, Mississippi, for the installation of a 250,000-gallon water tank, creating economic resiliency while facilitating job creation and retention. The EDA grant, to be matched with $1.2 million in other federal, state, and local investment, is expected to create 15 jobs and generate $8 million in private investment.

U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $2 Million in American Rescue Plan Funds to Diversify and Grow Morgantown, West Virginia’s Economy

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding its first local investment as part of the Coal Communities Commitment to the Morgantown Utility Board in Morgantown, W.Va. The $2 million American Rescue Plan grant will help  create 300 jobs and generate $250 million in private investment to build a new  beverage processing and packaging facility in the Morgantown Industrial Park.
