The EDA-led Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) process can provide a roadmap to effective economic development in America’s communities and regions through a locally-based, regionally-driven economic development planning process. At EDA, we believe that locally-owned strategic planning is critical to facilitating regional economic development efforts and we understand that some communities need help developing a plan and figuring out where to start their efforts.

This year, many of the nation’s first federally-designated Economic Development Districts (EDDs) are turning 50! We commend all of our EDD network partners for their dedication and service! Below are just a few examples of numerous successes EDDs have accomplished through the years!

In 2014, EDA partnered with South Carolina's Chester County Sewer District through a $2.2 million grant - matched with $1.5 million in local funds - to make sewer infrastructure upgrades needed to serve a new manufacturing plant that became the first North American manufacturing facility for the 10th largest tire company in the world.
