The Center of Advanced Air Mobility Initiative (CAAM-I) in Northeast Ohio will focus on diverse, small and medium-sized suppliers. Currently, minimal support resources exist in Northeast Ohio’s innovation ecosystem for established small minority business enterprises (MBEs) because many support organizations focus on assisting startup and early-stage companies. CAAM-I will support underrepresented and small businesses with potential to scale in the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) sector using a three-pillar approach of initiatives to accelerate company growth:
- Education - focusing on business venture growth and transition;
- Commercialization - fostering new product and service development; and,
- Collaboration - facilitating partnership development.
This effort leverages technologies and expertise from key Northeast Ohio stakeholders including: aerospace, automotive and technology companies and startups; government agency labs such as the NASA Glenn Research Center; university researchers at academic institutions (including Case Western Reserve, Cleveland State, and Kent State), and industry members of Ohio Aerospace Institute and Manufacturing Works. CAAM-I expects to serve 90 companies and create 150 jobs over three to five years with MBEs representing 40 percent of companies served.
