The Greater Phoenix Economic Council and its partners will establish the WearTech Research and Commercialization Center to further advance the Greater Phoenix region’s efforts to promote and grow innovative companies in the wearable and medical technology cluster.

The purpose of the project is to increase the number and density of wearable and medical technology startups in the Greater Phoenix region by integrating and coordinating applied research, commercialization, entrepreneurship training, and startup assistance. The project will create an innovation hub to concentrate research and entrepreneurial assets in order to better translate research output for commercial applications, train entrepreneurs to start new ventures, provide resources to accelerate startup growth, and ultimately transform the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

As a result, the project estimates 45 new ventures and 223 jobs will be created over the three-year grant period.
