The Northeast Indiana Innovation Center (NIIC) will create the Indiana Connected Health IoT Lab. The new lab will provide individuals and groups with innovative Internet of Things (IoT) ideas with the resources, tools, and networks to develop those ideas into new products, new or expanded businesses, and new markets. Northeast Indiana is well positioned to house a health IoT capability given its large health-related market clusters, including medical devices, insurance, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.

This project will actively engage healthcare companies, IoT supplier companies, and applied-research universities. A Proof-of-Concept Garage will pilot and experiment with innovative ideas, and an Inclusive Education and Recruitment strategy will help involve a broad base of companies. The NIIC will further provide ongoing intensive business coaching and connection to capital to promising projects from the lab.

Over the three-year funding period, the project is anticipated to assist and/or form 90 companies, create or retain over 110 jobs, train over 310 entrepreneurs and innovators, and leverage over $4 million of investment capital.
