Excell Partners, Inc.

Excell Partners, Inc., a not-for-profit subsidiary of the University of Rochester, will form a new $3-5m Excell Upstate NY Seed Fund. Upstate New York is rich in academic research and patents, but lacks availability and access to venture capital to complete its innovation ecosystem. In addition to launching a new seed fund, Excell Partners seeks to better align the current network of entrepreneur and business support systems in Upstate New York, expand due diligence and technical assistance to regional ventures, and provide capital readiness and mentoring for ventures to better attract follow-on capital. Five years after the end of the grant, Excell Partners expects to deploy over $5 million in investment funds, creating 143 jobs and raising $30 million in follow-on funds.
