Innovate Mississippi will form a new seed fund to support the Mississippi Telehealth Cluster. Together with its partners – including The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), the Mississippi Rural Health Association, and Mississippi Telehealth Association – Innovate Mississippi plans to establish a focused system to help develop, grow and fund telehealth and other emerging technology startups. Innovate Mississippi will work with UMMC to establish processes to identify and prepare companies to become investor ready, create a member-managed investor seed fund focused on telehealth and related healthcare applications and technologies, and develop the fund’s intake and vetting processes. Additionally, Innovate Mississippi will leverage its partnerships to help identify challenges within the telehealth cluster and develop viable solutions into commercial opportunities, thereby supporting entrepreneurship along the entire telehealth supply chain. Anticipated impacts include increased deal flow and pipeline opportunities in telehealth, increased innovation within the sector, increased sources of early-stage capital, and ultimately a combination of strategic resources that will attract telehealth business to Mississippi.
