To enable Greater Philadelphia’s expanding life science industry to meet its increasing workforce needs, The Wistar Institute will create the Quality Science Pathway Apprenticeship (QSPA). The QSPA uniquely addresses a critical gap in higher education and workforce training programs, which do not provide exposure to quality science, a field which strives to ensure that products are free of defects, deficiencies, and significant variations. The QSPA will 1) establish a state-registered, non-traditional apprenticeship in quality science; 2) provide certification in quality science through an industry-developed curriculum taught by subject matter experts from regional employers; and 3) leverage funding to provide salary support for employers to offer on-the-job training.
