EDA's Privacy Program
EDA is committed to safeguarding personal privacy. Below is key information related to that commitment and the primary law in this area, the Privacy Act of 1974.
Privacy Act Overview: The Privacy Act can generally be characterized as an omnibus “code of fair information practices” that attempts to regulate the collection, maintenance, use, and dissemination of personal information by federal executive branch agencies. View the Privacy Act implementation rules and Department of Commerce and government-wide policies on privacy.
If you would like to request information covered by the Privacy Act, you may follow the instructions to submit a request. You are required to provide some proof of identity before records will be disclosed. A completed and signed Certification of Identity form (PDF) will meet this requirement.
Privacy Laws, Policies and Guidance: In addition to the Privacy Act, there are additional laws, policies and guidance materials that protect privacy. View descriptions of such materials.
Privacy Policy for EDA’s Website: View the privacy policy for EDA’s website. EDA does not have any website exemptions to the Privacy Act.
Privacy Act System of Records: EDA does not maintain any Privacy Act System of Records (PASOR) as defined by the Privacy Act.
Privacy Impact Assessment of EDA IT Systems: A Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) for EDA’s IT systems is maintained by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and is available on their website.
Matching Notices or Agreements: EDA does have any matching notices or agreements.
Inquiries: If you have privacy related questions, you may contact the Department’s Senior Agency Official for Privacy or EDA’s Chief Privacy Officer.
