The University of Northern Iowa’s (UNI) University Center (UC) proposed program focus will directly impact business expansion within the region’s innovation clusters (60%of time) and the cultivation of innovation (40% of time), as well as support the development of a high-skilled regional workforce and regional commercialization within the region. The UNI UC will adress business retention and expansion through innovation (BREI) and intrapreneurship resource network (IRN). To encourage business expansion within the region’s innovation clusters, the UC will work directly with the region’s local economic developers to design and incorporate new business discovery processes and protocols (BREI) into traditional business retention and expansion (BRE) efforts to identify and serve as a catalyst for businesses utilizing technology for internal product development, process enhancement and commercialization.
