EDA announced 17 investments from April 18 – 25, 2024, totaling $25,100,329 which is matched by $9,329,944 in local investments.  These investments include the following:

  1. $21,290,329 in five Economic Adjustment Assistance-2023 Disaster Supplemental projects to help regions that are experiencing severe economic distress or other economic hardship resulting from Hurricanes Ian and Fiona, wildfires, flooding, and other natural disasters occurring in calendar years 2021 and 2022 and to help save/create 485 jobs and leverage $18 million in private investment.
  2. $1,500,000 in one Economic Adjustment Assistance to help communities design and implement strategies to adjust or bring about change to their economy in response to structural damage to their underlying economic base and help create 600 jobs and leverage $50 million in private investment.
  3. $2,310,000 in eleven Partnership Planning projects to support the development and implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy process.

 

  • $21,290,329 in five 2023 Disaster Supplemental projects, matched by $6,069,944 in local investments, as follows:
    • $17,987, 491 to the City of Cleveland, Georgia, City of Cleveland, Georgia, to support the city of Cleveland with converting the existing wastewater treatment plant from a Lemna treatment system to a more conventional tertiary treatment system that incorporates biological nutrient removal in White County, Georgia.  The project work will help increase treatment capacity, which will allow for future economic growth in the area.  Once completed, the project will help the region create a more resilient community and assure continuity of businesses and residential operation to strengthen the regional economy. The grantee estimates that this investment will help create 79 jobs and leverage $9.7 million in private investment.
    • $2, 129,752 to the Coahoma County Board of Supervisors, Clarksdale/Coahoma County, Mississippi to support the Coahoma County Board of Supervisors with making roadway and water infrastructure improvements in Coahoma County, Mississippi.  The project will support the local boat manufacturing sector, creating jobs and opportunities in the region.  Once completed, the project will drive economic growth and strengthen the regional economy. The grantee estimates that this investment will help create 56 jobs and $8.3 million in private investment.
    • $440,000 to the Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center, San Francisco/San Francisco County, California to support the Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center with providing programs and services for over 18 months in English and Spanish, to 750 aspiring and established entrepreneurs in San Francisco, California.  Once completed, the project will assist individuals who want to start or expand their own business, strengthen the regional economy, and support economic growth throughout the region. The grantee estimates that this investment will help create 200 jobs, save 150 jobs, and leverage $18 million in private investment.
    • $240,000 to the Mason County Development Authority, Point Pleasant/Mason County, West Virginia to support the Mason County Development Authority with creating the Mason County Disaster Recovery Strategic Plan for West Virginia.  The project work includes developing a comprehensive revitalization plan for infrastructure improvements, educational curriculum enhancements, transportation and roadway upgrades, and targeting ways to help the region foster partnerships with local chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, and educational institutions to support business development and workforce training initiatives.  Once completed, the project will expand and diversify the region’s economic base and promote economic resiliency throughout the region.
    • $493,086 to the PathStone Enterprise Center, Inc., (Applicant) Rochester/Monroe County, New York (Project) Ponce/Ponce Municipio, Puerto Rico to fund the Federal Contracting and Business Support Center project to increase entrepreneurial capacity in Puerto Rico through technical assistance and training from the Business Performance Center.  The project will provide tools and opportunities for local businesses in Puerto Rico to increase their entrepreneurial capacity and provide training and workshops to assist with competing for federal and state government contracts.  Once completed, the project will help foster and strengthen business development by implementing strategies that promote long-term resilience and disaster recovery, which will advance economic resiliency throughout the region.
  • $1,500,000 in one Economic Adjustment Assistance project, matched by $1,500,000 in local investments, as follows:
    • $1,500,000 to the University of La Verne   La Verne/Los Angeles County, California to fund the Equipment Acquisition for the Accelerated Health Careers Academy project.  The project supports the University of La Verne with purchasing healthcare training equipment for real-time training simulation rooms to prepare the region’s critical frontline healthcare workforce, focusing on career paths in 1) Certified Nursing Assistants, 2) Central Service Technicians, and 3) Medical Assistants.  Once completed, the project will help address the region’s demand for more highly skilled workers and contribute to more employment opportunities for the region’s workforce. The grantee estimates that this investment will help create 600 jobs and leverage $50 million in private investment.
  • $2,310,000 in eleven Partnership Planning projects, matched by $1,760,000: to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS).  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
    • $210,000 to the Associated Governments of Northwest Colorado, Rifle/Garfield County, Colorado to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Associated Governments of Northwest Colorado, which comprises the counties of Moffat, Routt, Rio Blanco, Garfield, and Mesa.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
    • $210,000 to the Mid-Iowa Development Association Council of Governments, Fort Dodge/Webster County, Iowa to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Mid-Iowa Development Association Council of Governments, which comprises the counties of Calhoun, Hamilton, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Webster, and Wright. The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
    • $210,000 to the Southern Iowa Council of Governments, Inc., Creston/Union County, IA, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Southern Iowa Council of Governments, Inc., which comprises the counties of Adair, Adams, Clarke, Decatur, Madison, Ringgold, Taylor, and Union.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
    • $210,000 to the Southwest Iowa Planning Council Atlantic/Cass County, Iowa to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) in the region served by the Southwest Iowa Planning Council, which comprises the counties of Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Montgomery, Page, and Shelby.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
    • $210,000 to the Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission Victoria/Victoria County, Texas to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
    • $210,000 to the Bootheel Regional Planning and Economic Development Commission Dexter/Stoddard County, Missouri to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Bootheel Regional Planning and Economic Development Commission, which comprises the counties of Dunklin, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Scott, and Stoddard.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
    • $210,000 to the Mid-America Regional Council Community Services Corporation         Kansas City/Jackson County, MO, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) in the region served by the Mid-America Regional Council Community Services Corporation, which comprises the counties of Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte and Ray in Missouri, and Johnson, Leavenworth, Miami and Wyandotte in Kansas.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
    • $210,000 to the Boonslick Regional Planning Commission, Warrenton/Warren County, MO, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) in the region served by the Boonslick Regional Planning Commission, which comprises the counties of Lincoln, Montgomery, and Warren.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
    • $210,000 to the Mid-Missouri Regional Planning Commission, Ashland/Boone County, MO, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Mid-Missouri Regional Planning Commission, which comprises the counties of Boone, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Howard, and Moniteau.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
    • $210,000 to the Southwest Missouri Council of Government, Springfield/Greene County, MO, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) in the region served by the Southwest Missouri Council of Governments, which comprises the counties of Barry, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Greene, Lawrence, Polk, Stone, Taney, and Webster.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
    • $210,000 to the Southeastern Economic Development Commission, Elizabethtown/Bladen County, North Carolina to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Southeastern Economic Development Commission, which comprises the counties of Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Cumberland, Harnett, Hoke, New Hanover, Pender, Richmond, Robeson, Sampson, and Scotland.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
