EDA announced 13 investments from February 22-29, 2024, totaling $8,320,000.00, which is matched by $2,625,545.00 in local investments.  These investments include the following:

(1)  $7,682,000 in 5 Economic Adjustment Assistance-2023 Disaster Supplemental projects to help regions that are experiencing severe economic distress or other economic hardship resulting from Hurricanes Ian and Fiona, wildfires, flooding, and other natural disasters occurring in calendar years 2021 and 2022.

(2)  $638,000.00 in 8 Partnership Planning projects to support the development and implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy process.

• $7,682,000 in five 2023 Disaster Supplemental projects, matched by $2,478,045 in local investments, as follows:
  • $250,000 to the City of Napa, Napa/Napa County, California, to support city of Napa with developing the Napa River Economic Resilience Strategic Plan, which will examine opportunities for economic development and provide recommendations for economic resiliency to be leveraged by the Napa River as a business and ecological asset.  The city-wide plan will help outline important considerations of access to economic opportunity for new and expanding businesses, as well as designing a riverwalk to activate the river.  Once completed, the project will boost economic resiliency, and create jobs, which will strengthen the regional economy and support economic growth throughout the region.
  • $72,000 to the Coeur d’Alene Area Economic Development Corporation/Jobs Plus, Inc., Coeur d’Alene/Kootenai County, Idaho, to fund the hiring of a consultant to prepare a comprehensive study and assessment of the Bioscience and Health Industry in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.  The project will help determine how to best meet the future demands for services and related workforce training in the region.  Once completed, the project will boost economic resiliency, strengthen the regional economy, and support economic growth throughout the region.
  • $360,000 to the Barren River Area Development District, Bowling Green/Warren County, Kentucky, to fund the hiring of a disaster resiliency coordinator in the ten-county region served by Barren River Area Development District, an EDA designated Economic Development District.  The coordinator will help assist with disaster relief and recovery efforts in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  Once completed, the project will lay the groundwork for long-term economic vitality and advance economic resiliency throughout the region.
  • $5,000,000, to the City of Jonesboro, Jonesboro/Craighead County, Arkansas, with making airport infrastructure improvements to support job creation and economic development in Craighead County, Arkansas.  The project will support construction of a new terminal at the Jonesboro Municipal Airport, replacing one destroyed by a tornado in 2020.  Once completed, the project will create an economic climate that is resilient, which will attract private investment and strengthen the regional economy.
  • $2,000,000 to the Lubbock Reese Redevelopment Authority, Lubbock/Lubbock County, Texas, with making infrastructure improvements to support future business growth in a new business park in Lubbock, Texas.  The project will support construction of a new business park with an emphasis on innovation, disaster preparedness, and regional resiliency.  Once completed, the project will create an increase in employment and diversify the local economy.
• $638,000.00 in eight Partnership Planning projects, matched by $147,500.00 in local investments, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS).  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
  • $70,000 to the Central Florida Regional Planning Council, Bartow/Polk County, Florida, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Central Florida Regional Planning Council, which comprises the counties of Desoto, Hardee, Highlands, Okeechobee, and Polk.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
  • $65,000 to the Bristol Bay Native Association, Inc., Dillingham/Bristol Bay Borough, Alaska, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Bristol Bay Native Association, Inc.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
  • $70,000 to the North Central Planning and Development District, Inc., Winona/Montgomery, Mississippi, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the North Central Planning and Development District, which comprises the counties of Attala, Carroll, Grenada, Holmes, Leflore, Montgomery, and Yalobusha.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
  • $153,000 to the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council, Inc., Lac du Flambeau/Vilas County, Wisconsin, to support the development and implementation of a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council, Inc., which comprises the communities of Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, Forest County Potawatomi, Ho-Chunk Nation, Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Menominee Tribe of Indians, Oneida Nation of Wisconsin, Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, St. Croix Band of Chippewa Indians, and Sokaogon Chippewa.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
  • $70,000 to the Western Illinois Regional Council – Community Action Agency, Macomb/McDonough County, Illinois, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Western Illinois Regional Council, which comprises the counties of Fulton, Hancock, Henderson, Knox, McDonough, and Warren.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
  • $65,000 to The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, Siletz Reservation/Lincoln County, Oregon, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians in western Oregon, which serves communities in Lane, Lincoln, Marion, and Multnomah counties.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
  • $70,000 to the East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, Menasha/Winnebago County, Wisconsin, to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, which comprises the counties of Calumet, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Marquette, Menominee, Outagamie, Shawano, Waupaca, Waushara, and Winnebago.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
  • $75,000 to the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians Economic Development Corporation, Portland/Multnomah County, Oregon, support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians Economic Development Corporation.  The CEDS process is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
